ISRAEL THE TERRORIST STATE
Now that the vote is in by the UN General Assembly endorsing
Palestine as an observer non-member state, what will Israel do next? What
options does Israel have since the Palestinians under President Mahmoud Abbas
has circumvented direct negotiations with Israel and has gone directly to the
UN? The final count was predicted, 138 in favor, 9 against and 41 abstentions.
It is clear that the UN from the beginning favored the Palestinians.
As a result of the
eight day war with Hamas, and now the UN vote, Israel must decide what they
will do next in terms of their future. Israeli citizens know that the Arab
block and the international community are against them, this is reality. A
brief review of all the UN Human Rights resolutions, confirms that over forty
percent are directed toward Israel the only democracy in the Middle East. With
233 resolutions against Israel, it is easy to see why many nations voted for a
Palestinian state. President Mahmoud Abbas in his speech at the UN General
Assembly said the following:
“Palestine comes today to the United Nations General Assembly
at a time when it is still tending to its wounds and still burying its beloved
martyrs of children, women and men who have fallen victim to the latest Israeli
aggression...”[1]
The very fact that most UN member nations supported president
Abbas as the first Arab leader to approach a terrorist entity- Hamas and
congratulate them for their victory over Israel and in the same breath praised
the martyrs before the United Nations is insightful. The United Nations has
made the democratic State of Israel the target of persistent condemnation while
ignoring its mandate in challenging the tyrannical regimes around the world.
What does this say about the UN? As of this moment, the government of Israel has given the
green light to build additional homes, 3000 in East Jerusalem and in the West
Bank. The Obama administration has reacted by denouncing the building of new
homes as unacceptable. National Security Council spokesman Tommy
Viet said:
"We reiterate our longstanding opposition to settlements
and East Jerusalem construction”[2]
The real terrorist state is not Hamas or the PLO under
president Abbas. The real terrorist state is the state of Israel. They are the
true aggressors and the world is beginning to believe it. Turkish Prime
Minister Tayyip Erdogan called Israel a “terrorist state” as Israel was
defending her citizens from rockets coming in from Gaza. This clearly shows the
mindset of most people in the region.[3] Israel does not have a
right to defend herself because her army is strong, advanced and well equipped.
Palestinian combatants are fighting Goliath, so to even the balance of warfare;
they must use every means they can to inflict pain and destruction to their
enemy, even at the expensive of sacrificing their own people. If we are honest
with ourselves we have to admit that Jew hatred is pervasive. We can no longer
try to win over those who hate us to our cause, it will end in failure. Jew
hatred is no longer confined to the uneducated and ignorant, it has reached the
highest levels of society.
An opinion poll taken a number of years ago in 2003 in Europe,
an estimated fifty-nine percent of Europeans believed that Israel is the major
threat to world peace.[4] That was nine years ago,
how much more now? We as Jews and evangelical Christians cannot stand idly by
and see our people mangled by the media, academics, and left wing organizations.
We have within ourselves the power to inform, educate and proclaim the truth
regarding Israel and the long standing conflict of Islamic jihadist who seek to
wipe us out. We can become our own “media” and spread the truth or we can stand
and watch.
One thing we can do is to seriously consider making aliyah to
Israel. By making aliyah to Israel we can strengthen existing communities and
build new ones. This is our destiny and we have a great future ahead of us. In
the meantime, we need to be pro-active and do all we can to dismantle current
myths about Israel, Jews and Zionism.
“God, do not keep
silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how
your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they
plot against those you cherish. Come, they say, let us destroy them as a
nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more." Psalm 83:1-4 NIV
